So, this has been a good week so far. Here’s the rundown:
I had to go back to school on Tuesday, but this semester, I have Fridays off. So far, it looks like this semester will be a lot better than the fall semester. Then again, it would have to be pretty bad for it to be harder than last semester. Anyway, I’m taking four classes, and I think they will be interesting. I don’t know almost anyone in any of my classes, but it’s always fun to meet new people, especially at community college. Let’s just say there are a lot of characters there…
On Wednesday, I drove myself to school for the first time, but I hit almost every red light possible. What’s weird is that I started going to college before I started driving at all, and when people would see I didn’t drive myself, sometimes I got funny looks because they thought I had done something to make me loose my license, and they didn’t know how old I was. But no more funny looks now!
In other news, I had my first piano lesson of the semester on Wednesday, and let me just say I’m going to be very busy. I’m starting a Chopin etude, and when the book comes, a Mozart sonata. Also, I still have a Bach Prelude and Fugue to keep perfecting, as well as Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor, “Pathetique.” College auditions are coming up this fall, and I just need to be sure I’m prepared.
Ignite started back on Wednesday, too. It’s good to be back in the band with my friends.
What I’ve mostly been doing this week is working on my book. It’s about playing piano/keyboard, and I take a completely new approach to teaching it. I’m focusing mostly on playing rock/pop, and not classical, so there’s no reading music involved. It’s also a lot about playing keys in a band–not just by yourself. It’s kind of challenging to write, but I think it will be worth it. It’s called, “The Art of the Keyboard: What You Really Need to Know to Play in a Band,” and I’m hoping to have it for sale as an e-book either at the end of April or the beginning of May.
