Wow. Just, wow. I know I haven’t posted anything in a couple weeks, but I’ve been insanely busy mixing and mastering My Heart Beats and rehearsing for the release party. So now, the album is finally out, and Lily and I performed to a packed house last night at the launch party. It was incredible. It was one of the best nights of my life.
I just look back at the past few months and I am amazed. When Lily and I started making this album by recording the first single “New Generation” in 2010, I knew so little about mixing and recording. But now, I can say I’ve made an album, and I’ve worked recording sessions in Los Angeles and New York. Two weeks ago, I didn’t know much about mastering, but now, I’ve mastered an entire album, and it’s out on the market. I’ve learned so much from all of this. God is so good.
In spite of potentially catastrophic technical difficulties before the show last night, we made it through the evening and had a great performance. I ran a complex keyboard rig involving MainStage and an iPad MIDI controller, and it did end up working very well. I also did my first improvised keyboard solo, and I got through it (Of course, being the one who is running the looping backing track and deciding when everyone comes back in does make it easier). There are no words to describe the feeling I get when I’m performing in front of an engaged crowd. It’s such a privilege to be able to do this. I can’t wait to go on tour someday with a band…
I’ve included some photos from the show last night for those of you who couldn’t make it out. I just want to say thank you to all of you who have supported us on this endeavor and thank you to my mentors, teachers, friends, and family. Without you all, this couldn’t have happened. The first album of many, God-willing…
P.S. For those of you interested in hearing My Heart Beats, you can check it out here.
