Announcing My New Studio, Silver Moon Sound!

Located in Central California's Santa Cruz Mountains an hour south of San Francisco, Silver Moon Sound provides a scenic environment with top-notch equipment and fresh mountain air. This is ideal for both seasoned pros looking for a retreat-like recording experience and new artists who may be intimidated by a traditional studio environment.
Silver Moon Sound is the only recording studio in Santa Cruz with the industry-standard 7 ½-foot Yamaha C7 grand piano. Heard on thousands of hit records and admired for its crisp sound and impressive low end, the C7 is a modern studio classic.
Silver Moon Sound is in a single 26' x 15' room in a residential setting. We cater to singer-songwriters, classical musicians, and acoustic groups, but there is a separate space for amps available.
As an advocate for accessibility in the music industry and beyond, my goal was also to create the most accessibile recording studio on the West Coast. This not only means being fully accessible to wheelchair users, but being accessible to those with immune system disabilities. As such, the studio features MERV-16 filters with ~5 air changes per hour and excellent ventilation (CO2 readings in 500s-600s ppm) that exceeds CDC guidelines for preventing respiratory virus transmission.
At Silver Moon Sound, I offer recording, mixing, mastering, and more. Visit the Silver Moon Sound website for a full listing of available services.

More About Me & My Approach
As a Nashville-bred engineer and producer, I specialize in creating authentic, acoustic recordings. As a classical pianist and composer myself, I can approach projects with both an artist's and an engineer's ear.
Having the ear of a classical musician allows me to pick up on musical nuances and subtleties beyond the typical technicalities involved with being an engineer. As an award-winning composer, I have extensive knowledge of a variety of instruments and know how good music is supposed to sound—and with my years of engineering experience, I know how to achieve that sound in a recording. As a producer, I love to combine my musical and technical expertise to bring all aspects of an artist’s vision to life through my company Silver Moon Sound (formerly River Rock Records).
My engineering credits include mastering for GRAMMY® winner Bootsy Collins (Parliament-Funkadelic), mastering for two-time GRAMMY® nominee Eric Alexandrakis (John Taylor [Duran Duran], Vinnie Colaiuta [Sting, Herbie Hancock]), mixing and mastering American Idol alum Jess Lamb, mixing and mastering internationally recognized soprano Michelle Areyzaga, and over two hundred other credits on commercially released tracks by artists from across the globe.
Since 2019, I've also been a frequent collaborater with Chicago-based classical recording companies Atlas Arts Media and Peckham Media Productions. I am a Voting Member of the GRAMMYs® / Recording Academy, and I've been working and learning in studios since I was thirteen years old. I hold a B.S. in Audio Engineering Technology and a B.M. in Music Composition with Highest Honors from Belmont University in Nashville, TN—one of the world's leading audio engineering programs.

Learn Audio from Me
In addition to being a working audio engineer, I also enjoy teaching musicians both private lessons and group workshops in audio engineering and production. Whether you've never mixed a song in your life or have already self-produced your own album, you can save yourself years of trial and error by learning engineering skills directly from a pro. Lesson and workshop topics include, but are not limited to:
- Best practices and time-saving hacks for home recording projects
- How, when, and why to use EQ, compression, panning, and plugins
- Streamlining your workflow in Logic X, Pro Tools, or other DAWs
- How to make edits without them being obvious
- Audio processing, sampling, and editing as creative tools
- The what, why, and how of automation in mixing and production
- Advanced signal flow concepts to take your productions to the next level
